It was not an abnormal thing in the ancient era of the Inuit that tools would break and be re-purposed rather than thrown away as we seem to be so accustomed to. This ancient artifact is dated back to 4,000 years old, though the original use of the piece of seal bone is hard to call. It was sourced from the Bering Strait, and despite the mystery of it's original use it makes for an outstanding relic of human history. Measures about 3 1/2" long.
