A while back, a gentlemen gave away his old recurve bow collection to one of our dealers, J&J Archery, of Port Lavaca, TX. Among the bows were some other trinkets and Jean, one of the owners, came across an old beat up knife that turned out to be one of Rudy Ruana's earlier and rarer pieces, the Captain Cool knife. At the 2014 Mathews Retail show in Wisconsin, they brought the knife to James and asked that he make his own version of this historic knife and the final product is simply gorgeous. Hand forged from high carbon 01 tool steel, the blade measures 5" from tip to guard and features a unique thumb ramp and notches, as well as a nicely sharpened clip point. The brass guard is soldered in place above a complete brass and horsehide stacked handle with a beautiful brass crow's beak butt. The overall length measures 9 3/8", and it comes in this handmade Rowe's leather sheath complete with a sharpening stone.
