When James first started making knives with his father in Michigan, he used the "J. Behring Jr. Handmade" stamp (2005-2011) before changing to the "J. Behring Jr. Montana" stamp now still used today. The blade is a classic Trout and Bird and it's hand forged from 1/8" thick high carbon 01 tool steel and it measures 4" from tip to guard with a razor sharp convex grind. The brass guard is soldered in place above black and maroon fiber, brass and horsehide leather spacers with a crown stag butt that's pinned through the tang with brass. Overall the length measures 8 1/4" and it comes in a simple Sullivan style sheath that's stamped J. Behring Handmade.
